Helen Cohn’s Jerusalem Gems

Welcome to 100% Jerusalem.

Through our website we aim to introduce you to our city in all its beauty. Jerusalem is a location that has to be experienced with each of your senses to understand its complexity and the unique nature of its people. Whilst Tel Aviv is often portrayed as the cultural centre of the country, I can assure you that Jerusalem is never boring.

In the month of July alone there  were dozens of art exhibitions, musical offerings, gastronomic experiences, sports activities and cultural events all over the city…and this in a month that includes Ramadan and 9 b’Av traditional times of introspection and prayer for the Moslem and Jewish communities when entertainment is put on a back burner!

Here are a few photos I took in the city in July that give you some idea of the gems you can discover in Jerusalem whether they are quiet moments in picturesque neighbourhoods or intriguing people adding to the rich tapestry of the city.

Here are just a few of my favourite photos, I hope these inspire you to explore our city and to enjoy its distinctive atmosphere. We would love to feature your snapshots too, so if you think you have managed to capture the essence of Jerusalem on camera, please send us your pictures and help us to show off the beauty of Jerusalem to the world!

Luscious grapes just waiting to be picked, in a private courtyard in Ein Karem.
A harpist makes herself comfortable in one of the internal archways of the Jaffa Gate.
Segway tourism, the latest way to see the city if you don’t have the energy to walk Jerusalem’s steep hills!
